WHY PARTICIPATE
What happens when learning leaves the classroom and hits the route of a world-class Gran Fondo? The variables that truly matter come immediately into play: control, adaptability and endurance – the very same qualities required in timber engineering. The result is a unique format that blends structural analysis, sporting activities, excursions and technical site visits in an exceptional setting: the Dolomites, where timber construction is part of a long-standing tradition.
Bike: registration for the Marcialonga Craft Bike is included in the program (the road cycling competition covers approximately 80 km with an elevation gain of 2,400 meters).
Learn: one full training day focusing on the most relevant topics in timber construction.
Taking part is a truly one-of-a-kind opportunity: a long weekend combining professional training, local experiences and fully organised accommodation.
CONTENTS AND ORGANISATION
The course offers a comprehensive experience that brings together team-building activities, sport and technical training, with the aim of exploring the most up-to-date solutions in timber construction.

In-depth sessions on:
• connection design and verification
• fire resistance
• construction tolerances
• bracing systems and critical detailing
Hands-on activities and laboratory testing on connection failure modes.
Analysis of joint durability and innovative solutions for hybrid structures.
- Different structural types: post-and-beam, CLT and hybrid structures
- Detailing of timber connections and innovations
- Testing of timber connections and their failure modes
- Durability, fire resistance and critical construction details
- Case study analysis
AUDIENCE
The training day is ideal for professionals who want to:
Deepen their technical knowledge of timber construction
Learn how to design timber buildings with precision and long-term performance in mind
Engage in a comprehensive learning experience that combines theory, real case studies, exercises and LAB results in an informal exchange with instructors and fellow participants
